The Birthday Surprise

It was Yael's birthday, but she thought everyone had forgotten. She had not received any cards or messages all morning. Even her best friend, Shira, had not called her yet.

"If nobody remembers my birthday, I will just stay home and read a book," Yael thought sadly.

At school, everything seemed normal. The teachers gave lessons as usual. Her classmates talked about homework and tests. Nobody mentioned her birthday. Yael felt disappointed and lonely.

After school, Shira called and said, "Can you come to my house? I have lost my math notebook and I need your help to find it."

Yael did not really want to go, but Shira was her best friend, so she agreed. "If she has forgotten my birthday, at least I can help her with her notebook," Yael thought.

When Yael arrived at Shira's house and opened the door, she could not believe her eyes. The room was decorated with colorful balloons and streamers. All her friends were there, and they shouted: "SURPRISE! Happy Birthday, Yael!"

There was a huge chocolate cake with twelve candles. Her friends had prepared games, music, and even a photo booth. Yael's eyes filled with tears of happiness.

"We have been planning this party for two weeks!" Shira said with a big smile. "Did you really think we had forgotten?"

Yael laughed and hugged her friends. "This is the best birthday surprise I have ever had!" she said. It was truly a day she would never forget.
